High-Powered Telescope Uses a Hand Control to Access Thousands of Celestial Objects
See stars, planets, and galaxies up close
Handheld controller can access thousands of celestial objects at the press of a button
Telescope's tour mode uses your location to introduce well-known stars, planets and constellations
Do the stars that shine above you each night seem unreachable?
Whether you're an amateur stargazer or an astronomy fanatic, you'll appreciate the ease of use of the interactive Celestron NexStar 130 SLT Telescope, a powerful reflecting telescope that accesses thousands of stellar objects with the press of a button on the included handheld controller. The Celestron NexStar 130 SLT Telescope is powered by eight AA batteries or a 12-volt power adapter (batteries and power adapter sold separately).
Bring the Wonders of the Sky Down to Earth
With its pre-assembled, adjustable steel tripod, the telescope can be up and ready to use in a matter of minutes. The Celestron NexStar 130 SLT Telescope creates a model of the sky, which it uses to locate any celestial object with known coordinates. Its SkyAlign system uses your current date, time and city to create this model, along with three known objects. View the details of the lunar surface, the rings of Saturn, the polar ice caps on Mars, or the cloud belts on Jupiter.
Hand Controller Brings the Stars to Your Back Yard
The hand controller is designed to give you instant access to all the NexStar SLT's functions. With automatic slewing to over 4,000 objects and common-sense menu descriptions, even a beginner can master its variety of features in just a few observing sessions.
Introductory Tour of the Sky Included for Beginners
If you are new to astronomy, start off by using the built-in Sky Tour feature, which commands the telescope to find some of the most interesting objects in the sky and automatically slews to each one. The LCD screen displays coordinates and scrolls useful information about objects selected from the NexStar database. This telescope can also store up to 50 different user-defined objects in its memory so you can easily see your favorite stars or constellations with the press of a button.
Included Software Provides Road Map for the Sky
Included with the telescope is The Sky?, a CD-ROM cosmic database featuring 10,000 celestial objects, with 75 stunning color images. You can even use your PC to create astronomical events like a total solar eclipse and the phases of the moon. Then print your own custom sky charts to make stargazing even more rewarding.
Warning: Never look at the sun with your telescope or its finderscope. Permanent and irreversible eye damage may result, as well as damage to your telescope.
